Nagy-Milic - Füzér

The hike to Veľký Milič is not very difficult. There is a lookout tower built here.

It’s easy to get lost, but not worth missing out on.

The Trianon border here bisects the Prešov – Tokaj mountain range, the southern part of which, on the domestic side, the Zemplén Mountains, rises to the highest point at this point (385th in the list of mountains in Hungary). From a geological point of view, the Milic group is a ruin volcano (the ruined remnant of a detonated giant volcano) which, in terms of geology, belongs to the northern continuation of the mountain range, the Salanci Mountains. [1] [2] Nagy-Milic is a watershed and also an ethnographic border, where the Hungarian and Slovak language areas meet. [3] At the top stands a stone column, right next to the landmark, on the Slovak side. There used to be a lookout here, but it came into the border, a neglected wooden constitution collapsed in the 70s, and has not been rebuilt since. There is currently no view of the stony peak surrounded by dense forests, but the Károlyi Lookout Tower [4], built on the neighboring Kis-Milice, offers a great panorama. In 2006, a daytime border crossing point was designated in Nagy-Milice for walking and cycling tourists. [5] The team of the One and a Half Million Steps in Hungary started in 1979 from Nagy-Milic, the former eastern end of the National Blue Tour, to walk the big blue sign under the leadership of Pál Rockenbauer.

A little longer hike from Slánská hut, without extraordinary views. Be sure to visit the nearby observation tower (approx. 10 min.) With magnificent views of the surroundings.

Veľký Milič (895m) is the highest peak of the Milič subunit and at the same time the highest peak of the Hungarian Zemplín Hills. At its top is a reinforced concrete pillar, which was built in the 1930s as a point of the trigonometric network of the first order. The pillar serves and served as a border pillar with the Republic of Hungary. If you get here, you will find that there are no nice views. For lovers of views, I recommend going further along the green sign for about 600 m and you will get to the lookout tower called Karolyi's Lookout Tower.

We ran to Veľký Milič on the way from Slánská Huta to the Dargovský pass, from the Malý Milič saddle. It was worth it. Unfortunately, there was no time for a neighboring, close lookout.
