A falu felől Sződ irányába elindulva, a sportpályát elhagyva érjük el a Papkúti öreg erdőt. Nevével ellentétben nem olyan koros, de idősebb, mint a Papkúti dűlő többi erdőfoltja. A régebbi időkben még legelő volt a helyén és a Papkútnak nevezett tágabb térségében, melynek elnevezéséről legendák szólnak. A hagyomány szerint az itteni kútba egy pap fulladt bele, de a dűlőnév korábbi egyházi kezelésre is utalhat. A kis erdő a madarak jóvoltából a közeli botanikus kert Nyugati ostorfáinak magjaiból fejlődött, és szinte kizárólag ez, az eredetileg Észak-Amerikában honos fafaj alkotja. A parkerdőnek természetvédelmi értéke nincs, hiszen tájidegen fafaj alkotja, de a közösség élete szempontjából mindenképp említésre méltó.”

Starting from the village in the direction of Sződ, leaving the sports field, we reach the old forest of Papkút. Contrary to its name, it is not as old, but older than the other forest patches of the Papkút vineyard. In the old days, there was a pasture in its place and in a wider area called Papkút, which is said to be named after legends. According to tradition, a priest drowned in the well here, but the name of the vineyard may also refer to previous church treatment. Thanks to the birds, the small forest evolved from the seeds of the western whip trees of the nearby botanical garden, and is almost exclusively made up of this tree species, originally native to North America. The park forest has no nature conservation value, as it is made up of alien tree species, but it is definitely worth mentioning for the life of the community. ”
