During his trip around the world, Frigyes Schoch, who built the villa, saw the marble-covered castle palace on a hill in Genoa, which inspired him to build his counterpart in Budapest (the original Genoese palace still stands today). He wanted to make an exact copy of the stockbroker who was later ruined. It was intended for a twin villa, but only the one on the left was made. The building is also called the Red House because of its clinker bricks. From October 1926 the building was inhabited by dr. Lóránt Hegedűs, who was previously the Minister of Finance of the Teleki and Bethlen governments. From then on, the people of Budapest call the building a "violin villa". According to news on the net, the top floor of the building is currently rented by film producer and film commissioner Andy Vajna. On a sultry summer day (Aug.03) I was finally on Orom Street and could see this wonderful building up close. In fact, from the banks of the Danube, one does not even feel the true size of the building. It stands out from the rest of the buildings on the street, much larger, more massive, and taller at the same time. Yet there is something graceful, aristocratic about it. Special building. I checked to see if "Andy Vajna" was out at the doorbell, but I only found a mysterious "Jack Sparrow." Johnny Depp I don't think he would live in Budapest ...
