It was built around one floor in 1560 and got its name from the special sgraphite decoration. The Italian word for the building - which means scratching in Hungarian - refers to the two-layer plaster decoration. The essence of this way of decorating is to place two or more layers of plaster of different colors on the wall and then remove the upper, lighter layer according to the desired pattern. This procedure from Italy has also been used in many places in Kőszeg.
