★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A török hódítás miatt római katolikus egyházfik elmenekültek a településről, így a református prédikátorok vállalták a nép lelki gondozását. 1553-ban Simontornyán, mint a szandzsákság székhelyén rendes egyház működhetett, mert fennmaradt, hogy a lakosság mind egyhitű, vagyis református hitű volt.
Református templom és iskola először máshol állt, de az épület
elöregedett és teljesen lepusztult. A reformátusok csak hosszú huzavona után kaptak egy városon kívül eső,
építkezésre szinte alkalmatlan helyre. A templom elkészült 1768-ra, majd a XIX. század végén új tornyot kapott a mai formában.
 Due to the Turkish conquest, Roman Catholic clergy fled the settlement, so the Reformed preachers undertook the spiritual care of the people. In 1553, a regular church could operate in Simontornya, as the seat of the Sandzak, because the population remained one-faith, that is, Reformed.
The Reformed church and school first stood elsewhere, but the building
aged and completely destroyed. It was only after a long tug-of-war that the Reformed received an out-of-town,
almost unsuitable for construction. The church was completed in 1768, then in the 19th century. at the end of the century it received a new tower in its present form.
