★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ein guter Ort für Erinnerung und Einkehr. Der Friedhof ist sehr gepflegt und strahlt Ruhe und Würde aus.
Mein Großvater fiel beim alliierten Luftangriff auf Szolnok am 2. Juni 1944 im Alter von 31 Jahren. Ich habe ihn also nie kennengelernt. Obwohl er mein Großvater ist, bin ich, während ich an seinem Grab stehe, der Ältere von uns beiden. Es ist merkwürdig, 1000km von zu Hause entfernt auf einem Grabstein den eigenen Nachnamen zu lesen, und den Namen eines Menschen, von dem man in direkter Linie abstammt, den man aber nur in Wehrmachtsuniform von 2 alten, vergilbten Fotos kennt. Ich versuche, wenigstens einmal im Jahr hierher zurückzukehren, um ein paar Blumen an seinem Grab abzulegen. Wir sind eine Familie und er gehört dazu.
A good place to remember and contemplate. The cemetery is very well maintained and exudes calm and dignity.
My grandfather was killed in the Allied air raid on Szolnok on June 2, 1944 at the age of 31. So I never met him. Although he is my grandfather, while I stand by his grave, I am the older of the two of us. It is strange to read your own surname on a tombstone 1000km away from home, and the name of a person from whom you are descended in direct line, but whom you only know in Wehrmacht uniform from 2 old, yellowed photos. I try to come back here at least once a year to put some flowers on his grave. We are a family and he is one of them.
