A templomot Vízivárosi templomként is emlegetik a helyiek, de elterjedt a kéttornyú templom, vagy a volt jezsuita templom megnevezése is. Nagyon hányattatot története/előélete van, rombolások és ujjáépítések. 1957-1958-ban építették újjá a templomot, ma is látható formájában, 1980-ban pedig belső festését is helyreállították. A templombelsőt 1996-ban, a külsőt 2013-ban újították fel legutóbb. It is also part of the panorama of the Esztergom Basilica from the Danube side. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Danube and the Little Danube junction. The church is also referred to as the Water City Church by the locals, but the two-towered church, or the former Jesuit church, is also commonly referred to. There is a lot of vomiting in history / prehistory, destruction and rebuilding. The church was rebuilt in 1957-1958, still visible today, and in 1980 its interior painting was restored. The church interior was last renovated in 1996 and the exterior in 2013.

They built the present-day Baroque church in honor of St. Ignatius of Loyola between 1728 and 1738 at the former water gate. It defines the view of the Water City. Until the Basilica was completed, this church was used as the cathedral. During its renovation, a clock painted on both towers was placed, the clocks showing 11:32. On December 26, 1944, at 11:32 a.m., the Mária Valéria bridge connecting Esztergom with Sturovo was blown up. It took sixty years to rebuild the bridge.

A templom egyszerűsége, az énekek és imádságok szépsége, mind közelebb vittek a nagycsütörtöki események átéléséhez. I attended the most beautiful Thursday ceremony of my life yesterday in this church. The simplicity of the church, the beauty of the songs and prayers, all brought us closer to experiencing the events of Good Thursday.
