If you're in Hungary, you should see this basilica/cathedral, as it's the historic and current seat of the Roman Catholic Church in Hungary. Spend some time walking around the outside, before going in, and don't miss the views of the city, from the backside of the building, near the coronation statue. The basilica itself is small, so it won't be a long visit. If you're looking at the church, from the outside, the entrance is on the left. Tickets are required for entry, and can be purchased from the gift shop just across from the entrance. There are toilets on the second floor of the gift shop. In December 2021, the restrooms took both Hungarian Forint and Euros. The cost was .50 euros.

It was under construction right now, so I couldn't see all of the inside of the church, but it was a place where I could feel the grandeur. It is also good to light incense candles to pray for the health of the family.

Wasn't very excited visiting the place due to the limited knowledge on the subject matter, but was thoroughly amazed by the sheer size and the feat of architecture. Built almost 150 years ago this is considered the highest building in Hungary and like the top most catholic church. Photos do not do justice to the amazing dome and huge pillars, you got to see it to absorb the enormity of the place. The door to the Basilica is massive in comparison to us tiny humans. They hav the skeletal remains of the head for few of the Bishops in the curch and it's fascinating to observe. The view for the top is truly amazing and worth it. The crypt below has the burials of all major arch Bishops who presided over the basilica over the years. Do not forget to visit the castle with its own past adjacent to the church which is a museum now and holds the evidence to the diffrent regimes that ruled over the place. All in all a wonderful experience, it takes almost 5 hours to see both the Basilica and the castle. Be ready to spend the entire day out there.

Magnificent and holy. Although currently under renovation, which means the central dome cannot be seen in all glory, it is still outstanding and enormous. Blessed are those who have not seen, and believe.

Long reconstruction works affect the image. Very large, offers great views all around especially on the Danube. The interior is not as impressive, but it has historical significance.

Impressive Basilica! With a nice view over the city and the Danube. Here the first Hungarian king got his Corona as well

A monumental building, the tallest in Esztergom and the largest sacral object in Hungary with beautiful facades. Damaged heavily in WW2, but restored nicely. The building unveils an exciting part of Hungarian history.

It is simply HUGE. Must visit from Budapest. It’s super close and the view from there it’s very nice. Also cross the border to Slovakia ?? it’s recommended. There’s a small art exhibition at the entrance which was, surprisingly, good. All in all a great day trip
