★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's just ok. Would be better if not overpriced. Portions small. Lemonade was unremarkable. Unlikely to return. Better value elsewhere.
The goulash was below average. Beef was tough. I had to wait so long between items. Actually, I'll never return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place looks nice, interior design is something to look at while you wait for your food but the restaurant is on the small side and, because it seems to be popular, is always crowded. From here, I think, start the problems.
When you enter, nobody even greets you. They even don’t seem to notice you. Maybe only if you block the pathway of a waiter delivering food.
When you try to make yourself seen, you get rushed answers like “ask him”, pointing to someone. When you ask the indicated person, we receive an answer unrelated to our question, “4 minutes”. Maybe they don’t know English… after the allotted time has passed, the person continues to work as if he’s building the great pyramid of Giza out of strudels. Finally, another person takes our order, after more than 7 minutes of just standing there, trying to not inconvenience the waiters.
Strudel was hot, as you would expect, being served from a hot plate, but not much to write home about. Curd was ok, although it should have had some fruits in there, maybe I got the one piece where the fruit wasn’t there, and apple is just as you would have expect, nothing special. Apricot was too “stringy” for my taste.
Perhaps they started as a strudel place but now they want to be more of a restaurant and I think this is causing the problems

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today we did something I was hoping to do for our entire trip. We went to Budapest Hungary for lunch ?. This morning we caught a train from Vienna to Budapest, had lunch and caught a train back. It was the perfect “because I can” moment. I don’t regret a thing.
Lunch today at Strudel House was the “Hungarian menu” of meat strudel, goulash, and apple strudel. In Budapest!!!
The service was generally very good. The food was genuine and tasty. The atmosphere was relaxed (including a Airport spinning sign and some crazy bathroom sinks).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not worth it! Good for a coffee/dessert (strudel) but not to have lunch. They charge you a 13% service fee and the food is rather mediocre, expensive and in small portions. See for example the lamb chops we ordered. We paid 7,150 HUF and got only two lamb chops… FYI - if you see old review pictures you’ll see that in the past they served 4 chops. ?♂️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Go to place for authentic strudels. The staff were eager to help and recommended the popular ones. The decor of the place is very nice and ambience complements the excellent strudels.Really liked the count of strudel from the past few years, impressive numbers indeed!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent. Not a tourist trap despite the name. Fabulous food, only slightly let down by the brisk waiters. One of our best meals in Prague (and we mostly dined at Michelin Plate restaurants). The menu for dinner is amazing value, even with wine. Make sure you book and get a table up the end with the table clothes and the locals.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came across this nice restaurant during a walk on my first day at Budapest. It was a revelation! Friendly atmosphere, excellent service and above all, very tasty food! Great variety in the menu and a good presentation, along with pretty affordable prices, are the reasons for the 5 stars. Will visit it again, next time!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I want to give this place five stars for the incredible interior design alone, and the very good food we overall had here. Sadly the service is AWFUL. You are seated straightaway in a very, very busy place and then the service disappears. So you have to flag down a waiter. The food comes very quickly after but being ignored for a time of tiring.
That said we ate here two nights in a row as it stays open later than other places and as a said they food is very good. The first night I got the raspberry soup… and pickles (separately!) The soup was sweet as expected especially with the dollop of whipped cream atop and the pickles were sour. So I greatly enjoyed my meal. Excellent portion size. The second night I got the roasted fish with the veggie strudel. The dish was fairly bland including the strudel but my husband raved on his duck. The suggested wines are EXCELLENT but the pours are small for the prices.
Overall not sure I would return.
