A tour guide is worth a visit. Unique rarity, very interesting. It has a special interior. Although it is quite stuck between residential buildings.

Built between 1773 and 1781, on the site of another Orthodox church, predominantly Baroque in style and renovated after the great flood of 1879. Dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra, it has a special collection of Serbian icons painted by Jovan Popovic in 1761, but also Russian (received gift), plus books and old religious objects. On the ceiling there is a fresco called "Creation of the World", and the strong point is the iconostasis, designed as a tree from whose branches hang about 60 icons. This is where the Hymn of St. Sava, the founder of the Serbian church and statehood, was first written and sung. Although it is located in a tourist area, the church is a bit hidden. The current priest (2021) is a Serb from Romania, he is very kind and gives explanations in Romanian as well.

I strongly belive that, judged by the reviews of others, the church is fenomenal in its own right. Therefore the one star rating is more for the Serbian Orthodox church, over all, then for this particular one, however this one is no exception. I have been to many, many churches, and i can not remember paying to get in to Serbian Orthodox church. Well here, there is a entery fee. The fee, regardless of how high or how low it is, should not be for entering the church. Furthermore, even if we put a fee issue aside, it is hard to get hold of anyone. Also, i belive that the contact email address, should be the one of Serbian Orthodox church, not the Father Dalibor's, private mail. The above stated is addressed to Governing body of Serbian Orthodox church, to take this criticism positively and step up the game and ensure that people can more easy and with more admiration, approach our church and religion ,which, we Serbs are proud off.
