The one and a half times life-size bronze statue stands on a pedestal covered with black Swedish granite slabs. His inauguration was on August 18, 1938 (the 900th anniversary of the death of István Szen), the work of Ferenc Sidló.

Ez az országgyűlés hozta meg azt a törvényt (1938. évi XXXIII. törvénycikk), amelynek alapján augusztus 20., István király szentté avatásának napja nemzeti ünnep lett.
In the framework of the series of ceremonies organized on the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the death of St. Stephen, the first Hungarian king, Aug. 1938. On the 18th, after a solemn parliamentary ceremony, the one and a half-life-size bronze statue of Ferenc Sidló was unveiled in Székesfehérvár. This parliament passed the law (Article XXXIII of 1938) that made August 20, the day of the consecration of King Stephen, a national holiday.

The equestrian statue of King Stephen, the founder of the state, was erected in 1938 to mark the 900th anniversary of his death. The governor was later given a small copy of the statue - also by Ferenc Sidló - as a present. The statue's popularity is demonstrated by the countless miniatures of King St. Stephen in Herend Porcelain
