The source is cozy, but its surroundings, the lake, should be put in order because it is neglected.

I visited here for the second time in two months, but if I could I would come more often. The atmosphere of the place is indescribable, peace and quiet pervades our souls. Here you will find a water stage, a blessed, beautiful wood-carved bench, a spring with clear water, and a short walk down the hill with a couple of tiny gray cattle. A "miracle site" for me.

Vászoly is first mentioned in a charter written in 1082, probably named after Vazul, Vászoly, who was a cousin of St. Stephen. It was also inhabited in the Árpádian period and then depopulated during the Turkish occupation. In 1689, the village was re-established with the Hungarians in the area, mainly engaged in viticulture, the population of the settlement began to increase again, by the 1800s it had reached almost 700 people. World wars have shattered centuries of development. Today, Vászoly, with a population of just over two hundred, is one of the most beautiful small villages in the Balaton Uplands. It’s not really a fountain, it’s a beautifully crafted spring head that also features the shell motif that marks the pilgrimage to St. James. The well is named after the patron saint of the village, St. James. The lake is located in the northern part of the village and is fed by the water of springs erupting from the bottom of the surrounding limestone hills. Its water is beautifully clear, about half a meter deep, and home to fish, frogs, swamp turtles and mallards. There is also a water stage on the lake, opposite which there are benches on the sloping hillside, but there are also benches next to the fountain for those who want to relax. At the pond stands the Táltos Lighthouse, which was erected in 2008 by St. James and Árpád House II. In honor of King Endre, who allegedly himself visited here and blessed the place and the spring water. By the way, the branch of the St. James Pilgrimage in Hungary connecting the Benedictine monasteries passes through the village. The Camino Benedictus starts from the Benedictine abbey in Tihany and after about 170 kilometers reaches the more than 800-year-old beautiful Romanesque church of St. James in Lébény, which was also an important stop on pilgrimage routes in ancient times.
