Great place. It is fantastic to smell the forest. The visitor center has a huge car park. There is also space for buses and cars. It has been beautifully renovated. It hasn't been so demanding in 10 years. It's worth a walk. Whoever can do it in the lookout do not miss. Not a 10 minute program.

Connecting with the ruins and residues, it is an ingenious, informative journey for those interested in the subject. So far, 5 stars would be: There was no means of paying a bill of one and a half billion in budget support ... so neither a SZÉP card nor a bank card will play with the payment of the ticket. No national memorial for you ... Only the good Hungarian forint. Some mistakes unintentionally uncover the eyes of the slightly informed visitor: 1, Virgin Mary is not patron of / defending the country but Regina / Queen ... 2 In the sacred kingdom, there was no need for the approval of the Roman Pope to allow the current ruler to open a saint. Therefore King László did not need King Stephen to be sanctified. Our Crown crowned with the Holy Crown were apostles, not just apostles, such as the Pope. And this was so in the early 1500's. But you do not hear much about this either ...

I'll be honest ..... I was expecting more. Already on arrival in the parking lot, I was disappointed when I couldn’t park next to another car because there wasn’t enough space! (In each parking lot, which is painted for 2 vehicles, only one car was parked.) This is a very small design and / or construction flaw. The center is not visible on the map, and its opening hours can be found in several versions on different websites. The building is beautiful, blending in with the landscape. The exhibition is interesting, equipped with very modern visual aids ... but the saying is, unfortunately, incomplete. This can sometimes be traced back to the undiscovered past, the fault of the exhibition designer. St. Ladislaus is not buried here. The texts written about him are very masterful and are almost exaggerated in words by his pathological cross. He goes to a church, but at an exhibition it’s an unnecessary exaggeration. And this is basically an exhibition. Leader Koppány is mentioned in some of the presentations, but only tangentially. Yet Koppány belongs to Somogyvár, Kupavár, much more than Szent László, the knight king! If, after defeating Koppány, István washed his sword from the blood here, then not only the unknown accommodation and life of Koppány, but also his death took place here in the area! It is understandable that there are no finds from the time of Koppány, but as far as the lack of finds was made up in the case of László, they could have done the same with Koppány. The third sentence of the exhibition states that László had an abbey built here (in place of the Koppányi Cup Castle) in order to abolish the paganism associated with Koppány forever. Due to the lack of Koppány and the overestimation of St. Ladislaus, this exhibition still meets this millennial goal ..... although I think, and this is what I have the greatest respect for facts and history tells me, authenticity should have been the goal. There is a lot of political and Christian crosstalk in the texts. We can see here a presentation presented with modern tools, which meets the goals of today's course, but is sometimes false. The built sidewalk does not lead to Kupavár, and neither the hill nor the cross of Kupavár can be seen from the lookout. (What has the cross got to do with Koppány?) Koppány memorial site tucked away in the woods, two kilometers from its own castle, even though Koppány would have a place here on the hill! On the promenade of St. Ladislaus, a wine bar advertises itself, which is more visible at the end of the promenade than the gate of the ruins of the abbey itself! I haven't done any research, but I have a strong suspicion that these (but at least for reasons that can be traced back to them) leave everyday visitors behind ... I think these should be improved, but it would be better to reinvent the whole thing! (the visitor center, not history) One thousand five hundred forints lesson.

Why did this barren, windswept hillside become a national memorial? Here on Kapuvárhegy it was the property of Chief Koppány. Not far away is the Szentesica spring, whose water is considered a miracle worker. Here, according to legend, the victorious István washed his hands after defeating Koppány. As we know, István severely punished “Somogyföld” and placed his rebellious people in the service of Pannonhalma. Here on the hill he had a church built in honor of St. Apollinaris. A small settlement adhered to the walls of the Spanish castle, it had a customs office and the right to hold fairs. St. Ladislaus then erected a basilica here (legend has it that he was inspired by a deer). The Benedictines of St. Eged came from St. Gilles, France. It later became a place of authenticity and county seat. A XVI. century it was then transformed into a border fortress (the need is a lord!). Its windows were walled in, the church towers became bastions. In vain! In 1543 it was occupied and plundered by the Turks. With the expulsion of the Turks, the Széchenyi became the property of the 20th century. century. The excavations, which began in 1972, were led by one of the most outstanding archaeologists, Kornél Bakay. The ruins have been open to the public since 1991. Arriving inside the gate (it was an adventurous and painful road) you can see the massive 3-storey lookout tower (Stepping up you can take great shots of the ruins). The armored tree of the knight king, St. Ladislaus, rises on a mound. In his hand a huge halberd warned: I will protect my people even after my death! As a Tatar in a poem by János Arany complains about László, who is already 200 years old: "Not the Szekler, not Lacfi, Who would God keep for a long time, But the a: László! Flag! It defeated us in battle. ” Between the well-preserved walls is a symbolic tomb, a strip of glass running around at the bottom as I stand close to my muddy moaned boots basil back at me. Captain, encrypted walls all around. Part of the bell tower has been restored, with plastic on top to protect it. It generates a lot of controversy, some say it is foreign and spoils the picture. Others are not bothered and some say it is essential. I do not mind! I am pleased to say that Somogyvár is being built and beautified- We will have a lot of joy in it.

Great place. Professionally done visitor center. Kind and helpful staff there. And the monastery is an unmissable place with a lookout. It permeates history. The pedestrian approach is the best choice for a professional footpath leading up the hilltop through the woods. Very cozy. There are also stairs. ?

The exhibition is clear, the workmanship is demanding and beautiful. Apparently he did it with love, who put together the material. The holographic images especially forgot the interest of the children, through which I was able to introduce some historical events even to the boy who was not interested. The ruins and the lookout together are a fantastic idea, transparent from above. An exciting patch of herbs was reported on our trip. Thank You!
