Hostel is not well indicated, the entrance is a big brown door. It is small, bed was not really confortable but did the job. No help at all from staff. It's okay for the price.

The place is very clean. Very welcoming staff. They're always around. And so comfortable beds!!!! The Downtown Hostel is one of those places "a home away from home".

I like the style of the hostel very much, it's a chill and friendly place. It's better to let the host know your arrival time, then everything will be perfect! Hope I can come back here again!

It was not easy to find the adress by car. And the first impression was a kind of dark. But then the guy knew a good place to leave the car and we had a good place to stay. And (sometimes) Reggae music for free. Thanks Ole and Thomas from Germany

Upon waking into the hostel, I was confused by the high ratings. Like "The Twilight Zone. You are about to experience something no one has before..." The hallways were cramped, the seating area was a couch in the hallway with no lighting I could find, the kitchen was messy. We booked a double room and ended up in a 5 bed dorm. There was no one else in there but it was annoying. The staff person was very, very nice and gave us great advice. I saw him mopping floors twice, but it was just, messy. The room was cold the first night, but did improve, and the water was so hot you had to be careful not to scald yourself. The sheets, pillows and pillowcases looked so old and grungy I didn't want to sleep on them. I just hoped the duvet cover had been washed sometime in the past month and did what I had to do to stay warm. It was also very loud, the rooms are right next to the common areas and you could hear every word that was said, and every creak in the floor. Someone had the radio on in the common room after 11 be and with the walls being paper thin it was like it was in our room. I finally went in and turned it off. Not deserving of a rating over 1, it gets the extra star only because of the particular staff person we dealt with. If we had paid a quarter of the price I would have expected nothing more, but for $40 a night, it was an amazing rip off.

I'm not sure if the high ratings for this place are because the rest of the Hostels in Bucharest are just as bad, or if everybody else is just nuts. You've heard the term "Ruin Pub", well this felt like a "Ruin Hostel". When I say that, it's not really a joke. The building, located behind the nicer facade, feels like it's falling apart. The elevator is old and rusted (unusable) and the windows in the apartment below are broken and abandoned. The inside felt like a couple strong doors followed by using the space however possible afterwards. The furniture was whatever could be found, and the walls paper thin. It was so bad that every time somebody walked in the hall of the room behind ours the floor would feel like it was moving in our room and the creaking would wake you up. There was no heat in our room (freezing the first night) and the pillows and sheets were stained with age that no washing machine could take out. To be fair, the owner/main operator was very friendly, commanded great English, and gave some wonderful walking tour recommendations. If I were basing the property on him alone this place would get a 5. Unfortunately, I cannot really recommend the property itself. If all you want is a bed, toilet, and hot shower it will work, but given the choice, I would find a different hostel if I had it to do over again.

The hostel looks more 'welcoming, you feel immediately at ease.It is very nice and design! The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient, for me that host is the best that I met in my travelling life :).Definitely that hostel is cute, very young and dynamic but absolutely suitable for any person. The rooms are basic but clean, efficient and adequate size .The room we stayed has far exceeded our expectations clean sheets and towels changed regularly. There is free wi-fi of sufficient quality. And then, the area is central and well connected: there are tram, bus and metro! However, you can reach the center on foot is really near. We were very good, so I recommend it to everyone .If I return to Budapest for sure I will go back there. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.Good luck for your business! You're doing a very good job!!!! :)
