The Herend exhibition and the butterfly collection were beautiful. The building itself is amazing.

It is not barrier-free, it is almost impossible for people with reduced mobility to enter the building. It is true that there is a barrier-free entrance, but this is not possible due to the nature of the monument!

One of the best acoustic concert halls of the former Synagogue in Zalaegerszeg, last time I had the opportunity to listen to the Christmas Concert of the Zalaegerszeg City Mixed Choir here, it was a wonderful experience.

I like this place. There are many exhibitions in it. If I can, I'll go to the openings. It's good to be in it.

page description: The Zalaegerszeg Synagogue was built in 1904 according to the plans of József Stern in an eclectic style. A II. it lost its religious function after World War II. Building history The city's first synagogue was built around 1848, and stood in the courtyard of today's Golden Lamb Hotel. (After 1904 it was turned into a cinema, burned in the spring of 1945, demolished.) As it proved to be small, the Community of Faith designed a new one, it was completed in 1904 at the request of the Budapest architect József Stern, the contractor was Tamás Morandini. After 1945 it became unused, the building was bought by the City Council, the organ was bought by the Mary Magdalene Parish. It stood empty for a long time, it was used for occasional storage, its demolition was also discussed. It was renovated in 1983, and its plans were made by architect Gyula Pelényi from Zalaegerszeg, on the basis of which service rooms were added to the eastern end and the fence was demolished. A few years later, it was made more ornate with the colored windows of János Blaski, an organ was built, the exterior plans of which were also made by Gyula Pelényi. The chandeliers are the works of the Budapest applied artist József Bokor. This is how it got its current form and became an emblematic public institution of the city, Built in an eclectic style, including oriental and Hungarian medieval decorative elements, the two facade churches with spherical helmets and three facade doors - reminiscent of the Dohány Street Synagogue in Budapest - have hardly changed their exterior, although the interior elements and decorative staining was not restored. In its foyer there are plaques depicting the names of the designer and builder, the architect planning the renovation and the company performing the work, a memorial plaque to the victims of the First World War in Zalaegerszeg Adorned with a magnificent organ, it is a building with a concert piano and excellent acoustics. It has been operating as a City Concert and Exhibition Hall since September 1983, hosting high-quality exhibitions and concerts, but is also a worthy venue for numerous other events, performances, conferences and weddings.
