★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Want to escape the busy city life in Budapest? Need to relax? Come and take a stroll down by the monastery and rest your weary eyes on the beautiful views of the Balaton. If you stroll down the path you will find many places to eat and there is even an icecream shop. If you continue further down you will come across the echo statue where you can see if you are loud enough to produce an echo. Further down is the echo restaurant which allows you to take in the beautiful views while dining or sipping a delicious draft lavender beer. A good place to unwind and relax, or simply explore. Note: If you venture left where the echo statue is you will come across three crosses.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Magical place, the best on Lake Balaton with stunning views, gorgeous pottery and souvenirs as well as excellent food. For a coffee try Erzsike coffee shop at the top walking towards the Echo Restaurant from the Abbey

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good day out visiting the Abbey and the echo. Spectacular views across the Balaton. The Abbey itself is worth going in to and they have made an effort to create an exhibition in the cellars. Lots of nice looking restaurants close by and street food in the Centrum. Take the little road train up and walk back to the ferry.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best and most wonderful view of Balaton. You don't need to pay anything for the view, so it is a must see.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fair warning to those on cycling around the lake: the road to the church IS EXACTLY AS STEEP as you think it is from the bottom. Also no real bike lane. Yikes! That said, not to be missed. One of the best views of the northern part of the lake from the top. The church itself is maybe worth seeing because of its historical significance and, you know, because you're there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely church and ornate interior like many others in Europe. What distinguishes this is the lovely lake views and the very interesting museum about the food, drinks and life of the monks. A small art gallery has lovely paintings. Some cute souvenirs in the small shop at the exit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice view. It was an island in the medieval times before became an peninsula. This process still not ended up completely, thats why you can see some swamp and reed where it joins to the mainland. You must take a walk toward Óvár into the caves of the monks if you want to catch the best view to the peninsula.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From the monastery only church with small museum is accessible, which did not impress me much, let's say a nice baroque church. But the crypt from the eleventh century with king tomb is amazing and monks crypt is very interesting. From the monastery there are beautiful views of the lake.
