★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A tiszavirág (Palingenia longicauda) nevével ellentétben nem növény, hanem egy rövid életű kérészfaj, amely a szárnyas rovarok (Pterygota) alosztályába, az ősszárnyúak (Palaeoptera) alosztályágába, a kérészek (Ephemeroptera) rendjébe, annak tiszavirágok (Palingengidae) családjába tartozik. A fajt mostani kutatásaink és tudásunk alapján a modern zoológiába 1791-ben Guillaume Olivier vezette be Ephemera longicauda néven.Tökéletlen átalakulással (hemimetamorfózis) fejlődnek ki, ugyanis a kérészeknek nincs bábállapotuk.
Maga az emlékmű egyedi és szépen tervezett. A Palingenia longicauda a Tisza folyó ökológiai rendszerének fontos kulcsfaja. Magyarországon a tiszavirág 1993 óta védett, az élőhelyére és minden alakjára (lárva, szubimágó, imágó, kifejlett rovar, elpusztult kérésztetem) kiterjed a védelem. A Tiszavirág és a „tiszavirágzás” bekerült a hungarikumok közé, a Magyar Értéktár természeti környezet kategóriájának tételei közé választották.[
 Contrary to the name of the iris (Palingenia longicauda), it is not a plant, but a short-lived beggar species belonging to the subclass of winged insects (Pterygota), the subclass of winged insects (Palaeoptera), the order of beggars (Ephemeroptera). Based on our current research and knowledge, the species was introduced to modern zoology in 1791 by Guillaume Olivier as Ephemera longicauda.
The monument itself is unique and beautifully designed. Palingenia longicauda is an important key species in the ecosystem of the river Tisza. In Hungary, the iris has been protected since 1993, and its habitat and all its forms (larvae, subimmagus, adults, adult insects, dead bark) are protected. Tiszavirág and “tiszavirágzás” were included in the Hungaricums and were selected as items in the natural environment category of the Hungarian Treasury. [

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Szeretném egyszer élőben is látni a kérészek rajzását!!!! Az idén nem sikerül. Gyönyörű videókat láttam erről a különleges természeti jelenségről. Szolnoknál is láttam a kérészek szobrát.
I would like to see the swarming of the beggars live once !!!! It won't work this year. I have seen beautiful videos of this special natural phenomenon. I also saw the statue of the beggars at Szolnok.
