Tornyai János Museum - Dr. Rapcsák András u. 16th The foundation of the museum is linked to the 1904 city industrial and agricultural exhibition. János Tornyai's initiative, the tireless collection of Lajos Kiss, laid the foundations. After several relocations he moved to his final place in the house of József Imre (1914). Gyula Sándy designed the typically press-brick building built at the turn of the century. From 1928 the ethnographic collection was supplemented by an archeological department. Under the leadership of János Banner (1888-1971), professor of archeology at the University of Szeged, excavations were carried out almost every year between 1929 and 1944 on the outskirts of the city. The finds were taken to the museum. The museum was made famous by the Venus and Altar of Kökény Hill. The permanent exhibition, Art of the Neolithic and Copper Age, opened in 1970 and consists of artifacts dating back nearly six thousand years. The exhibition was reopened in 2005, and the Museum's permanent archaeological exhibition titled "Venus of the Weekday", BC. End of the 7th millennium BC. Very beautiful, the exhibition is also wonderful. Kind and courteous staff, nice, clean and cultured environment. Definitely a must visit!

Interesting exhibition material, in addition to the usual local history, they always try to smuggle something plus. We also visited the Friedrich light shop and Péter Pál town hall. The latter two are also worth a look because they are both unique in their kind. For the guided tour itself, if I could, I would give five more stars.

In a patinated building, high-quality permanent and temporary exhibitions await visitors. The varied programs (guided tours on request) provide meaningful recreation, especially for adults. It is centrally located in the city, close to everything. There is a large underground garage nearby.
