★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ez a hányattatott sorsú szobor először a 1929-ben a trianoni diktátum elleni tiltakozásul került felállításra, az országzászló talapzataként a Széchenyi utcában. 1945-ben eredeti szimbólumait lecsupaszították és a kommunista ideológiának megfelelő. 1514, 1848, 1919 és 1945 évszámokat vésették rá, így maradhatott eredeti helyén 1970-ig.
1970-ben elkészült az "igazi" neoprimitív felszabadulási emlékmű, ezért a Turul szobrot áthelyezték a Ligetbe.
2011-ben ismét visszakerült a városközpontba, bár nem az eredeti helyére.
