Cute and small museum, offering a glimpse into the history of the Budapest metro, at a very low price. We had a difficult time finding the entry as the location is poorly mapped - note that you have to go down the stairs right were the trams stop and turn (at Deak Ferenc Ter station), enter the visitor's/public transport info point and the museum entry is on the left.

Only take Huf, a museum really? Was looking forward to seeing it but as we were on the way home and had used up our Hungarian money we weren't going to take out more just for this. Attitude of the 2 people behind counter was awful too.

Located inside the metro station the museum is cute but very small. Entrance is affordable (around 300huf per person and an extra 500huf for video/photo taking). A good part of the explanation are translated in English but not everything. Going here you'll be able to see some old machinery and tools used at the 1st metro line in continental Europe. Explanation about the construction of the line is also displayed. However it is a shame that we can not go on-board the old trains or enjoy some more interactivity.

For 350 Huf it's about right in price if you're interested in the history of transportation. If you read the wikipedia article on the Budapest subway you will get the same level of info as you will from this museum. The only added experience here is that you get to see a few wagons from a hundred years ago and a lot of paraphernalia you will not understand because there are no boards in English, or any other language The lady at the cashier took 1000Huf more from me: if you want to take photos they charge another 500Huf. I paid 10000Huf, lady gave me 9000 back then asked me for my money back and after taking another thousand she gave me back "change" of 150. Absolutely shameful, she took advantage of the language barrier to gyp me As for the charge for the pictures, look at mine and don't bother to pay extra

A really small, but nice museum explaining about the Budapest Metro. A shame that most of the text is only in Hungarian and other languages are generally not supported. But a really nice place. Be friendly enough and the attendant will even allow you into the metro cars!

It's 2022 and they still take no credit cards. I spent a whole week in Budapest without getting any Forint and could pay for everything with cards, but guess I'll have to pass on this minor attraction because I won't get any cash just for this (on my last day in the country too).

An absolutely lovely museum, teaches you about the interesting history of Budapest’s public transport system, how the underground was built and there are several underground coaches from different periods which you can board.
