A	Attila Gerner on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A középkortól kezdve fontos mezővárosnak számító településen a 18. században már nagyobb létszámú görögkatolikus népesség élt, 1762-ben templom- és parókiatelek kijelöléséhez kérték a vármegye segítségét. Ekkor a szomszédos Újfalu, a következő századtól azonban egészen 1920-ig Óvári parókiájához tartoztak, majd ismét Csengerújfaluhoz kerültek. A 18. században az itteni hívek már szerettek volna templomot építeni, magyar nyelvű kérvényük a Munkácsi Egyházmegye levéltárában maradt fenn. A 19. században vettek egy kis harangot, és építettek egy haranglábat. A 20. század közepétől a római katolikus templomban volt görög liturgia, de 1970 után Felföldi Elemér és Papp Erzsébet házában saját kápolnát alakítottak ki, a haranglábat is áttelepítették erre a portára, amely ugyan elpusztult, de a harang ma is megvan. A kápolna alapítói saját kertjük egy részét új templom építésére engedték át. A bazilika formájú, nyitott fedélszékes templom Bán Ferenc tervei szerint épült, 1983-ban szentelte föl Timkó Imre püspök. Időközben Pátyodhoz csatolták a közösséget. 1998-ban a templomot eladták a Cigány Önkormányzatnak, helyette a város központjában Makovecz A Nyíregyházi Egyházmegye területi beosztása – Szatmári Főesperesség Imre tervei szerint épült meg a centrális, fakupolával fedett új épület, fölszentelését 2000-ben végezte dr. In the meantime, the community was attached to your Paty. In 1998, the church was sold to the Gypsy Self-government, instead of the town center Makovecz. Ottjártunkkor éppen nyitva volt, így bekukkantottunk és megállapítottuk, hogy belül is szemet gyönyörködtető a kialakítása. De hát Makovecz Imre kezének jegyeit viseli. :) Az atya nagyon kedves volt, jól elbeszélgettünk vele. We have a really nice building in front of Kossuth Street, where there are 3 churches.
