Melocco Miklós Kossuth-díjas szobrászművész Végvári vitéz című szobra Thury György várkapitánynak, a végvári harcok csapatvezérének állít emléket.
Thury György 1566-ban részt vett Tata várának visszafoglalásában.
1571-ben Orosztony község határában 150 lovasával együtt tőrbe csalták és megölték. Fejét a törökök levágták és Isztambulba küldték, testét gróf Zrínyi György Kanizsán temettette el.
A szobor 1968-ban került felállításra a vár Rosenberg-bástyáján, majd 1977-ben kapott új helyet a Lovarda melletti parkban, az Öreg-tó partján.

The statue of Miklós Melocco, a Kossuth Prize-winning sculptor, entitled The Knight of the Border, commemorates the captain György Thury, the team leader of the battles of the Border War.
In 1566, György Thury took part in the recapture of Tata Castle.
In 1571, along with 150 horsemen, he was tricked and killed on the outskirts of the village of Orosztony. His head was cut off by the Turks and sent to Istanbul, and his body was buried by Count György Zrínyi in Kanizsa.
The statue was erected in 1968 on the castle's Rosenberg bastion, and in 1977 it was given a new location in the park next to the Riding School on the shores of Old Lake.
