World War I monument

On November 30, 1923, the monument to the victims of World War I was unveiled in Maglód. “The audience of Maglód village unveiled the memorial column of their sons who died for the heroic death in honor of the homeland. The ceremony was attended by Count Tibor Teleki, National Assembly Representative, Tivadar Agorasztó, Deputy County Governor, Rudolf Meskó, Chief Judge of the District, Vitézi Szék, representatives of the military command, and the people of the village and the surrounding area. The distinguished guests were welcomed by Chief Justice Judge Rudolf Meskó, and worship was followed by worship in all the temples, from where the audience marched in front of the decorated memorial column, where the ceremony took place in a beautiful and touching setting. The monument was erected as a result of the agile work of William Magnus, the notary general of Maglód. ' / MTI / The artwork is located under shady trees in a small grove on the corner of Luther and Wodiáner streets. According to the archive image, a staircase originally led to the monument. On the artificial stone column of the work, a Turtle bird is seen holding a sword with its claws and folding wing tips. At the beginning of the column is a stone engraved on the stone, with a cross on the top of the middle hill. There are bronze reliefs on both sides of the monument. One is a soldier hugging his sweetheart (or his mother), the other is a war scene: a fighting soldier is one, a wounded soldier is the other character in the picture. The column of the monument is damaged. On the backside, where the victims' names are listed, corrections can be seen. Unfortunately, the monument's creator is not marked by sources. Inscription on the base of the monument: The year 1914-1918 World War II for our country heroic death to his sons in memory of Community of Maglód. The bottom three lines of the pedestal's inscription are engraved. The archive image shows that the fourth line from the top originally contained longer text, while the close-up image is faintly visible but cannot read the older engraving. In the archive there is another bird not seen at the top of the monument. The original was presumably removed and the present work was later added to the monument.
