Have been calling them for 2 days straight, no one answers the phone (at least 30 missed calls just from me). I can only imagine the people's frustration who have an emergency and try reaching them. A disgrace of and embassy.

I am a South African citizen and have been to this embassy a number of times and each time was approached with attitude from the Hungarian lady who works at the front desk. And very slow service always wait more than two hours even when theres no queues and im the only person there! Workers sit and gossip instead of doing their job and providing a good service

My experience with the South African embassy wasn't particularly amazing but also not terrible. The staff were helpful and friendly, however, when I applied for a new passport - I was told it could take up to 4 months to receive it because they are still utilizing the "old system". This was a problem because I needed a new passport quickly for the sake of renewing my Hungarian residence permit (they also cant process temporary passport requests). This ultimately meant that I had to fly all the way back to South Africa just to apply for my new passport (a service which I should be able to do here) - which took a total of just 6 days in the country itself. I don't want to belittle the embassy cause they do what is within their means, but at the same time, this is a little ridiculous that their processing times are so long. Makes it difficult to achieve what you need. EDIT 2020 - The embassy telephone number on the website is not working again. How should I make an appointment?

I applied for a new passport in June 2019 and only received it in January 2020. I realise that matters like these may be beyond the control of the embassy but the lack of communication from the embassy is appalling. Ms G Kraft at the front desk is inefficient and unhelpful. Moreover, getting my passport from the embassy was an almost impossible mission simply because of a lack of communication and willing to asisst. I am disappointed and I sincerely hope that the ambassador reads this review and addresses the matter promptly.

I have been requesting visa's from this embassy since 2013 and every single time they have been very helpful and received my visa's in time. This year in 2020 due to the COVID-19 I wasn't able to ask for my usual visitor's visa for SA since the country is on lockdown. However I have to get into the country asap due to having a wife who is pregnant and due to deliver our baby in NOV! Once I explained my situation to the embassy they have done everything in their power to devise a plan and to find a solution for which I am eligible to start with and would get me into the country. In the end I received my relatives visa (having property and a SAFA wife in the country I was eligible) in record time only in week where this type of visa would normally take from 2-4 months to receive. I will be flying soon to SA but I would like to thank Mrs.G KRAFT for all her help organising the visa for me and to MR.CSABA T for all the help and informations they have both provided. They have supported me all the way through the process and advised me of best steps. Would also like to shout out a massive Thank You to the Ambassador Mr.P.Vermeulen for reviewing and signing off my visa so quickly, Because of you guys there is is hope if not certain that I will be there for the birth of my first child. Thank You again! Keep on doing a great job.

My experience with all working at the South African Embassy Hungary Budapest has been Phenomenal! They have helped me throughout my visa application with no hassles. I have had the best service!

My visa has been ready for collection for a few days now, the courier (DHL Hungary) has been calling the embassy and nobody is answering the phone!!! How is it possible??? I've been trying to call the embassy myself and nobody picks up during office hours, this is the third day in a row!!!! We need our visas and original documents urgently as our departure is closing in!!! Does nobody work there, honestly??? This is completely irresponsible behaviour from a diplomatic institution! I'm speechless!!!!!
