Ferenczy István (Rimaszombat, 1792. február 24. – Rimaszombat, 1856. július 4.) szobrász, a 19. századi magyar szobrászat kiemelkedő alkotója, Nógrád vármegye táblabírája, az MTA levelező tagja.
Apja műhelyében volt lakatosinas, majd 1815-től Bécsben tanult, előbb rézmetszőként, majd 1817-ben Fischer és Josef Klieber szobrász osztályaiban. Solon című rézmetszetével díjat nyert. 1818-ban gyalog ment Rómába, ahol hat évet töltött Thorvaldsen műhelyében, és kiválóan megtanulta a márványfaragást. Hazatértekor útiládájában volt a Rómában vásárolt kis lovasszobor, amelyről 100 év múlva – amikor utódai a múzeumnak ajándékozták – kiderült, hogy Leonardo da Vinci egyetlen hiteles szobra. Amikor 1819-ben József főherceg nádor Rómát meglátogatta, felfigyelt a magyar művészre és 400 forint évi díjat rendelt számára.

István Ferenczy (Rimaszombat, February 24, 1792 - Rimaszombat, July 4, 1856) is a sculptor, an outstanding creator of 19th century Hungarian sculpture, a panel judge of Nógrád County, and a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
He was a locksmith in his father's workshop, then studied in Vienna from 1815, first as a copper engraver and then in 1817 in the sculptor classes of Fischer and Josef Klieber. He won an award for his copper engraving Solon. In 1818 he went on foot to Rome, where he spent six years in Thorvaldsen's workshop and learned excellent marble carving. When he returned home, he had in his chest a small equestrian statue bought in Rome, which 100 years later, when his successors donated it to the museum, turned out to be the only authentic statue of Leonardo da Vinci. When Archduke Joseph palatine visited Rome in 1819, he noticed the Hungarian artist and awarded him an annual prize of 400 forints.
