Az Országos Kéktúra nyomvonalán található építményt a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem oktatói, Kovács Csaba és Vass-Eysen Áron tervezték újra.

Az 1939-ben átadott kilátót körbevevő fák az évek múltával jelentősen túlnőttek az építmény kilátószintjén, ezért ezt a szintet – a tervezői szándék szerint – egy vasbeton toldással megemelték, visszaadva ezzel az eredeti panoráma élményét. A vasbeton szerkezet a kőből rakott alsó rész belső oldalán is folytatódik, és egy masszív, új beton aláalapozáshoz csatlakozik, amely ezáltal stabilizálja is a megváltozott arányú épületet.

A beavatkozásnak köszönhetően az ország egyik legmagasabban álló kilátója jött létre, amely egyedülálló, 360°-os panorámát nyújt. A csaknem 1000 méteres magasságban lévő tetőterasz megközelítése egy új, kettős közlekedési rendszeren keresztül lehetséges: a tervezők a megnyújtott belső mag köré csavartak két, egymással párhuzamosan haladó lépcsőt, szigorúan elválasztva ezzel a fel- és lejutást.

Az újjászületett kilátó abból a szempontból is különlegesnek mondható a hazai építészetben, hogy különböző funkcionális, texturális és fakturális tulajdonságú elemeket integrál. A torony esetében kiválóan működik a membránból készült háló, amely a fényviszonyoktól, az időjárástól, a látószögek változásától függően látványosan módosul. A felső részben a színes körablakoknak is köszönhetően a belső terek csodás fényjátékában gyönyörködhetünk. A kívül-belül megújult Galya-kilátót várhatóan a nyár folyamán vehetik birtokba a túrázók.

A Kilátó korábbi 17 m-es magasságát megtoldva, új magassága 30 m lett. Tetejéről a Mecsekig, a Magas-Tátráig láthatunk el, a tájékozódást infografika segíti.

M	Mike on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful views. Definitely worth the hike if you are in the area. I hiked there from Mátraszentimre and it took about 5 hours round-trip with children. Note that the lookout only accepts 200 Ft coins!

M	Mans A on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ the place is great, the tower is great, sleeping in the tower.. well.. not so great. it would have been perfect if the door would be sealed in a better way, but it was a cold night and wind was blowing through poorly installed door :( i know i shouldn't expect much, but when i was there, this is all i could think of. I think in a warmer nights its perfect but if its a cold, windy night.. i think its not that perfect but the view is perfect from the top, sunrise and sunset are amazing.
P	Péter “grin” Gervai on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You need 200ft coins to entry, the tourist center 150m away can change unlimited amount of coins, don't worry, go and ask there, if you forgot. The tower is nice, there are really 144 steps up and 144 down despite what others say. :) The step sides are covered with steel net so it's safe for kids and worrying souls. The top view is clear of trees and you see a full 360 degrees panorama of the area, really nice.

In northern direction you can look al the way to the High Tátra in Slovakia. Don’t forget to take with you a 200 HUF coin (60 cent) per person as entrance fee for the tower.
