The "administration" at Granite Bank is unreliable, slow and repulsive. I would not recommend it to anyone whose time and money matter ... We submitted our application for a housing loan (ZOP) on March 30, and the system accepted it with all the documents on the interface. On the 31st, an information was posted on the website that the bank could no longer accept more than the number of claims received. At that time, we even asked one of their clerks if we were okay with the process, to which we received a reassuring response. Then the days started to go up, no one was looking for our case, we called the bank every 2-3 days, we asked for information, but they just wished for a call back or that they could not provide information. At the central branch, I received the same answer to my personal questions ... After 3 weeks, our application was rejected in the form of an email, citing frame exhaustion. (Interestingly, similar contracts were signed with other banks even in April.) I have not responded to my letter of complaint since then. 2 working days later, an administrator called, asking if we had received a letter of rejection in which other loan schemes were offered and sympathetic to us? they were raised by 1% the week before ....

Best online bank

High cross-border transfer fees, poor customer service coupled with the lack of possibility (or ability) to process Mastercard chargebacks in case online merchants mislead you.

Called them to fix something with my account and the said to be “English speaking operator” did not speak english at all. She said they will call me back but nobody called. This is an unacceptably poor service for a bank.

You need to visit the local branch to open a joint account. It does not reflect like a digital bank. There should not be a reason to present yourself in person since you may open a regular account virtually. Furthermore, there is a huge frustration to find a parking space or even you are not allowed to get into the parking garage. This is an extremely poor customer support especially when you are a new applicant for a premium financial service.

Vía videochat was told I could open an account with passport and address card, but I needed to go to HQ. 2 days later went to HQ and was told, I quote "you can not open an account on this bank. You need residence card, compliance documents. *Go to another bank*". And that was it. No more details. No empathy. Worst customer experience ever

I've had accounts with granit for the last 7 years. Customer service was never strong, desks aren't English friendly but last time despite no que I waited a lot since English was a problem I get called finally and desk lady in semi good English with loud voice says "here's Hungary we speak Hungarian" and looks another way I guess expecting me to leave after looking at her for a while she asks if I have an account and she was perfectly capable of doing what I needed. In the process of which she makes a mistake in her calculations and next day in order to correct for her mistake I receive a text that there's been a withdrawal from my other account and money was changed according to bank's rate to make up for mistake in fee calculation , in real terms a simple withdrawal has cost me about 90euros. I try to make calls, emails, internal messages about the whole issue and never got any response. At this point I'm starting to close my accounts.

Not at all helpful. Keep looking for better banking. I have been researching Hungarian banks off and on for months trying to find the right fit for a personal account (not enjoying the experience at OTP with our business account) and thought Gránit's account and card options looked to be the premium banking which I wanted... On visiting (intent to open an account with cash to establish the daily minimums from the start) it was a bargain basement "going out if business" quality experience. Nowhere close to standard, much less premium. If it was a language issue, it was not addressed as such. Just some run around and "we'll have to get back to you" instead of actually sitting down to figure out what was wanted or needed. Scanned my documents without asking first and said I may hear from them as early as next week. After struggling through some questions about how accounts were handled, I asked them for my documents back and not to bother. Other bank's online fee structures may not appear as appealing, but their professionalism will be what gets my business. K&H was great to speak with, now I will be meeting with CIB, Citi, Erste, and MagNet next week instead of banking with Gránit. Pass this one by and save yourself the headache. I think I dodged a bullet after that treatment and what I overheard of the Hungarian client complaints.
