A szobor egyszerre idézi meg az írót és egyik legismertebb művét – az önéletrajzi alapokkal bíró "Utazás a koponyám körül" című könyvét –, ami arról az operációról és a kapcsolódó gondolatairól, eseményekről szól, amelyre agydaganata miatt volt szükség.
Az avatáskor Hernádi Gyula író mondott beszédet.
 The sculptural composition is the work of Iván Paulikovics in 1988, which took place on the occasion of the centenary of the artist's birth and the 50th anniversary of his death.
The sculpture simultaneously evokes the writer and one of his best-known works - his autobiographical book “Journey Around My Skull” - which is about the operation and its related thoughts, events that were needed because of his brain tumor.
At the inauguration, writer Gyula Hernádi gave a speech.
