I gave 5 5 not because of the look of the plaque, but because of its historical significance and the panorama that can be enjoyed from here. The mini tank that is next to it is glamorously nice, but I didn’t find much information about it on the net.

During the Second World War, all the bridges in Budapest were destroyed. Until the bridges were rebuilt, the Kossuth Bridge was built between Kossuth Square and Batthyány Square, which operated from 1946 to 1956, and was then demolished in 1960.

When in the Second World War all the bridges were blown up, it became necessary to rebuild the pontoon bridges. There was no question of restoring the destroyed bridges: it would take years ... There was only one way out - building a new one. It took exactly a year to complete everything: in the middle of January of the following year, the Kossuth bridge began to function, connecting the Kossuth and Battyani squares. The authors of the project were the architects Endre Mistet and Eleck Hilvert, who worked under the direction of Sich Karol. According to the plan, the supports at the bridge were reinforced concrete, and the frame was made of steel. For post-war Budapest, it was unrealistic to buy almost a thousand tons of iron and three times more cubic meters of timber ... I had to collect scrap metal from everywhere: from the river, from bombed mines, and from under the ruins of buildings ... The result was a 355-meter bridge , which had a width of a little more than 10 m. The frame was cast in Hungarian factories. The destruction of temporary bridges as a result of ice drift accelerated the opening of the bridge. It functioned until 1954, when the permanent bridges were reconstructed. At first, the traffic was reduced, the carriageway was blocked, then after 2 years the bridge was closed, and after another 4 years, in March 1960, it was finally dismantled. At present, those who wish can see only stone slabs on the river embankments - all that remains as a keepsake from the Kossuth Bridge.

The little tank that couldn't. There are some small figurines on the rail next to the Danube nice to notice and see them. This little sculpture is of a tank that probably has a problem, it's not clear to me if that's how it was created or it happened over time. In any case, there is a board that explains something that happened in 1946 and is related to the Danube and the bridges which is only in Hungarian.
