Kora két legnagyobbja, Bartók és Kodály mellett alkotott. Úgy is mondhatni az ő árnyékukban munkálkodott, de nélküle nem lenne kerek a kor zenetörténete. Bartók szavai alapján: "Kodályon és Lajthán kívül nincs értékes zeneszerzőnk..."
Pályája több rétegű, zenepedagógus, zeneszerző és népzenekutató, míg úttörője a magyar ihletésű külföldi zenekultúra terjedésének, sőt az UNESCO-hoz kapcsolódóan kultúrdiplomáciai tevékenység is fűződik nevéhez. (forrás: kozterkep.hu)

The inauguration of the head statue of the Hungarian composer and folk music researcher László Lajtha (1892–1963) took place on June 30, 2015.
He composed alongside the two greatest of his time, Bartók and Kodály. You could say they worked in their shadow, but without it, the music history of the age would not be round. According to Bartók: "We don't have a valuable composer outside Kodály and Lajtha ..."
His career is multi-layered, music educator, composer and folk music researcher, while he is a pioneer in the spread of Hungarian-inspired foreign music culture, and even in cultural diplomacy in connection with UNESCO. (source: kozterkep.hu)
