★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The monument itself is horrible. There were signs next to the monument in almost every language explaining how this statue was build just to rewrite history. The monument was build for all the dead Jews in Hungary but Hungary took part in it in WW2. They were the first country to join Germany and are trying to make it better by building this statue.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is actually a monument and an anti-monument. The idea of the government was to put up a monument that would revise the historical record as to the role of Hungary in the murder of the Jewish Community in the Holocaust. Fortunately, the people had a different idea, and put up a counter-monument right in front. There are pages in many languages explaining the history of the ,monument controversy, as well as explaining the history itself. This is certainly worth visiting on your way from the Parliament to the city center.
