One of the most beautiful buildings in Pécs

In the lower part of the western side of Széchenyi Square stands the eclectic, three-storey, current County Hall. On the two plots on which it was erected, the so-called Czyndery and Cséby houses stood. He stayed in the Czyndery House in 1770 during his stay in Pécs. Emperor Joseph. It was bought by the Pécs-Baranya Central Savings Bank in 1895 and built its headquarters here. The bees and beehives on the building also symbolize this. Roman numerals on the façade indicate the building was completed in 1898. All the decorative elements of the facade were made in the porcelain factory of Vilmos Zsolnay in Pécs.

It is one of the defining, beautiful, patinated buildings with a view of the city center.

Elegant building Absolutely a good place to kill memory

It could be one of the most magnificent eclectic buildings in the city center, the former Savings Palace. It was built by Imre Slauch according to the plans of Flóris Korb and Kálmán Giergl, who was the greatest builder of the millennium and the turn of the century. The building ceramics Zsolnay's works, as a symbol of thrift, the beehive and the pyrogranite portrait of Prince St. Imre on the façade also appear above the year 1898, which is quite distinctively inscribed. The building is state-owned, property management is a problematic issue, no one really takes on the role of landlord. Based on the inscription on the facade, we might think that this is really the county hall, this is partly true, as the county government operates in this building, which now mostly grows only as a phantom institution, has little left-handed function and uses only a small part of the building. It is not a specific organization, unable to achieve serious results, even in the protection of the building that represents its home. The condition of the building is only getting worse due to this homelessness. Of course, it wouldn't be cheap to fix things, it would take some serious investment here, it was about using it as a museum, but there is very little chance of that in the near future, at least.

Beautiful building on the main square. When I saw it I thought it was some main building, of course behind that city hall. It has a beautifully made roof with glazed tiles and especially the dome on the south side. On the facade are beautiful paintings of ceramics that in the sun look as if they are gilded.
