Négyeske Emlékműve - Tapolca

Rail and Nohab fanatics are advised to watch it and of course know its story. It is rather a place of pilgrimage. (Hi, a railroader.)

In 2016, the M61.004 moved to its current location in Tapolca. The Nohab locomotive suffered a serious accident in Badacsonylábdihegy in the late 90's when it ran into a fallen tree that dropped it off the track. At the collision, the car body fell off the bogies and rose into the sky and then fell back, then collapsed to its side from the railway embankment. No one was injured in the accident, however, the Four suffered such severe structural deformation at the rollover that made it impossible to repair the locomotive. For a while, the locomotive lay on its side in front of the Tapolca workshop on a railway PFT carriage and then began to be dismantled. Eventually, the front was cut off and unloaded, and the locomotive torso was placed on the side of the Budapest Transport Museum as an exhibition piece. Over the years, unfortunately, its condition has deteriorated, but due to the renovation of the Transport Museum, which resulted in a lack of space, the locomotive torso was donated to the city of Tapolca, where it was eventually renovated. This is how the Four was returned to where it was once a subordinate machine and where it was called Tapolca by the railwaymen. Since arriving in Tapolca, at the end of every year, on the day they left the city of Tapolca for good, the subordinate Nohab machines are holding a ceremony with great attention to the Four.

It commemorates a special memorial to the NOHAB M61 004 locomotive that slipped out on June 4, 1999 due to a tree felled on rails. It is in perfect condition as if it had just rolled out of the factory, unfortunately we could not see the inside as it was closed and unfortunately we could not find a suitable person to give instructions on the possibility of a possible visit. But anyone who loves trains should definitely visit the Tapolca train station .
