Egy esti séta alkalmával mindenképpen érdemes megállni és egy kicsit elcsodálkozni rajta. Lovely little chapel hiding quietly between the Lover houses and hotels. A XVIII. század közepén polgárházakkal kezdték az utat (Előkapu) beépíteni. A lakóházak követték a régi védművek vonalát, ennek köszönhető a jellegzetes fűrészfogas beépítés. A Nepomuki Szent János-kápolna az utca déli oldalán kapott helyet. Megépítését Primes Györgynek, a jobbágyfiúból lett soproni plébánosnak köszönheti, aki meggyőzte a konventet és a híveit, hogy Nepomuki Szent János tiszteletére kápolnát kellene építeni. Ereklyetartójában hitelesen Nepomuki Szent János, a gyónási titok áldozatának földi maradványai rejtőznek, ezt az ereklyét, az adományozó prágai, Szent Vid templomának kanonoka, külön okmányban is igazolta. Építésekor még nem sejtették a soproniak, milyen értéket rejt a talaj az Előkapu déli házsora alatt. Erre akkor ébredtek rá, mikor majd másfél évszázaddal később az új városházát alapozták. Ekkor kerültek a felszínre a római kori Scarbantia jelentős szoboremlékei. Megkezdték a feltárásokat, s a munkálatoknak az Előkapu déli házsora, így a Nepomuki Szent János-kápolna is áldozatul esett. A város nem akarta elveszíteni ezt a csodálatos kis épületet, ezért tégláit, faragványait megszámozták, és a kápolnát a Villa sor sarkán eredeti formájában újjáépítették.
