Botfai Hűvös László készítette a kararrai márványba faragott alkotást. 1910-ben kiállította a nevezetes párizsi Szalonban, ahol különdíjat kapott. A kitűnő párizsi kritikákkal rendelkező szobrot a művész Budapestnek ajándékozta, így került 1913-ban a Városligetbe. A Műcsarnok mellett,szemben a Műjégpálya bejáratával állt. Az eredeti márvány szobor a 2. világháborúban súlyosan megsérült, 1945 után évekig csonkán állt a helyén. Az utolsó híradás a kőszoborról Krach Ernő szobrász-restaurátortól származik, aki az 1989-es szántódi áthelyezés előtti restaurálást végezte. A városligeti sérült márványszoborral 1990-ben, egy véletlen folytán találkozott. A Fiumei úti temető kertészete mögött látta, a megsemmisítésre váró kőemlékek között. Igen rossz állapotban hevert ott, de a restaurátor szerint akkor még menthető állapotban. Azóta nem érkezett újabb hír, a kőszobor bizonyára végleg megsemmisült. A városligeti szoborról az 1930-as évek végén több másolatot is készítettek. 1932-ben a Népstadion útra készült egy másolat carrarai márványból. Elvileg '55-ben is elhelyeztek egy másolatot a Népstadion útra, amely az addigra elpusztult márvány változatot volt hivatott helyettesíteni.Az egyik bronz hasonmást 1939-ben Balatonszántódon helyezték el. A Királyi Magyar Automobil Club állíttatta az országút mellé közadakozásból. A világháborút sértetlenül átvészelte, ám 1955-ben harcos ateisták ledöntötték. A balatonföldvári templomban rejtegették 22 évig. Hosszú küzdelem után, 1980-ban sikerült újra felállítani. Mai helyére, a szántódi bevásárlóközpont előtti térségbe 1989-ben került. A másik bronz másolatot 1943-ban a katonai gépkocsizó csapatok Ezredes utcai központi telepének díszudvarán állították fel. Napjainkban egy bronz Szent Kristóf a gyermek Jézussal szobor másolat látható a Városligetben.

László Botfai Hűvös made the marble carved in Kararra. He exhibited it in 1910 at the famous Salon in Paris, where he received a special prize. The sculpture, with excellent Parisian critiques, was donated by the artist to Budapest, so in 1913 he moved to Városliget. It stood next to the Art Gallery, opposite the entrance to the Ice Rink. The original marble statue was badly damaged in World War II and stood in place for years after 1945. The last news about the stone statue comes from the sculptor-restorer Ernő Krach, who carried out the restoration before the 1989 relocation to Szántód. He met the damaged marble statue in the city park in 1990, by accident. He saw it behind the garden of the Rijeka Road Cemetery, among the stone monuments awaiting destruction. He lay there in a very bad condition, but according to the restorer, it was still in a salvageable condition. No new news has arrived since then, the stone statue must have been completely destroyed. Several copies of the statue in the city park were made in the late 1930s. In 1932, a copy of Carrara marble was made for the Népstadion road. In principle, a copy was placed on the Népstadion út in '55, which was intended to replace the marble version that had been destroyed by then. One of the bronze replicas was placed in 1939 in Balatonszántód. It was erected by the Royal Hungarian Automobile Club next to the highway from public donations. He survived World War II unscathed, but was overthrown in 1955 by warrior atheists. It was hidden in the church of Balatonföldvár for 22 years. After a long struggle, it was re-established in 1980. It moved to its present location in the area in front of the Szántód shopping center in 1989. The other bronze copy was erected in 1943 in the courtyard of the central colony on Colonel Street by the military car troops. Today, a bronze copy of the statue of St. Christopher the Child Jesus can be seen in the City Park.
