★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gyulai Vár derékvárának déli szegleténél áll Tóth Béla szobrászművész végvári vitézt ábrázoló lovas szobra. Az 1974-ben készült bronz alkotás egy négyzet alapú téglából készült talapzaton áll, melyet V. Pázmándi Margit építész tervezett. A szobor a végvári harcok hősies katonáinak állít emléket.
A végvári vitézt mintázó szobor balkezes, a mester ugyanis nem akarta, hogy az akkoriban még főleg a Várfürdő felől érkező látogatók elől a pajzsával takarja el testét. A szobrászművész a vitézt nem egy meghatározott személyről mintázta, a lónak viszont saját szeretett versenylova, Lucifer volt a modellje.
 At the southern corner of the waist castle of Gyula Castle stands the equestrian statue of the sculptor Béla Tóth. The bronze work made in 1974 stands on a square-based brick pedestal designed by architect Margit V. Pázmándi. The statue commemorates the heroic soldiers of the border fights.
The statue modeling the border castle knight is left-handed, as the master did not want to cover his body with his shield in front of the visitors who came from the Castle Bath at that time. The sculptor did not model the knight from a specific person, but the horse was modeled by his own beloved racehorse, Lucifer.
