"Zsolnay Family and Factory History Exhibition The history of Zsolnay, or the tangible history The history of the Zsolnay family and the factory is connected with important stages in the history of Hungary. It was founded in the Bach era, and its flourishing was connected to the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, ie the era of dualism. However, the First World War and the subsequent peace treaty broke both the great development and the reputation of the family. The ensuing period between the two world wars was a period of restart and modernization. The first success came to the factory at the 1873 Vienna World's Fair, and then came the sensation, eosin. At the World's Fair in Paris in 1900, this technique resulted in world success. Zsolnay, or family or factory. The history of the factory is also the diverse and exciting history of the Zsolnays. In the public consciousness, the name Zsolnay is intertwined with Vilmos, the genius of the ceramic figure, whose inventions porcelain faience and eosin technique gained world fame for the name Zsolnay, and pyrogranite inspired an entire architectural trend, the Hungarian Art Nouveau in the last century. He received the most significant recognition for the work of Vilmos Zsolnay when he won a large gold medal with the eosin glaze-coated porcelain faience he experimented with in the 1890s and received a French honorary award for his work at the Paris World's Fair. But beyond that, all members of the family worked hard and devoted to success. The Zsolnay Family and Factory History Exhibition is housed in the family's former residence. The former meeting room on the ground floor of the building, an office and later a cigar room was a room to receive visitors and customers to the factory, so it was designed to have the greatest possible impact on visitors and showcase the diversity they could create with the special glaze technology developed here. Here you can find the special black eosin tile stove designed by Géza Nikelszky, which is a work of art historical significance as one of the main attractions made in the Hungarian pavilion of the 1911 World's Fair in Turin.
