A welness rész szép, hiszen új.
The memories are still alive. AVAR in Mátrafüred was an iconic hotel in our youth, and many still think so. You can even (not) build a hotel by building a serious marketing activity. The memories, that’s one of the reasons we went to the completely renovated Avar. She got nice, she's fine, it must have cost a lot. We went by car, barrier-free admission worked properly. You could choose from the usual welcome drinks at the reception. We think it’s a very good idea, I don’t like champagne, so I chose mulled wine according to the weather, it was delicious. The room (we lived on the 4th floor) is nice, the heating, the bathroom and more are adequate. For my own needs, the bed was terribly hard, so the next morning we asked for a top mattress, which solved the problem. Half board is good but not outstanding. In each case, we found a place in the restaurant, we had something to choose from, I indicate that there was no full house when we visited. The wellness part is nice as it is new. The temperature of the water and air was just right for us, good warm. I would have a suggestion or two for that. The elevator is not properly programmed, it is difficult to get down from the 4th floor to the wellness level, as one of the elevators "doesn't go there". If the destination could be selected on the external call unit, the elevator that would take you to the desired destination would come. The wellness area, like many other hotels, should have a buffet. It may be on the outside during the summer, but unfortunately it wasn’t there now, and the restaurant was only open until three. In total 4 *, good and beautiful, but nothing outstanding, so for the price at least one something should be "very good".

After hibernated for years, a legend was reborn. The building went through a complete restoration and opened again in 2020. Recommended place to stay with the family, friends or for business trips. Fine kitchen, clean rooms, and friendly stuff for a fair price. Top wellness services.

4 guests, 2 rooms, 4 nights: Pros: *Excellent* managament and staff, amazing team, really top of their game! SUPERB area for natural beauty and lovely views from upper floors, especially on the east facing side Food: Well executed, fresh egg and cookery station for breakfasts a big plus. Kitchen: catered well for our Gluten free guest, but do let them know in advance of your stay! Perfect... *PERFECT* Matra location. Superb wellness! One of the best! Cons: Beds! Hard extremely uncomfortable beds, as bad as they come. Rooms: Curtains let plenty of light through Bathroom: 3 powerful spotlights means if you dare switch bathroom lights on it WILL wake you up, and thanks to the glass partion between bathroom and room it will light up the entire room and wake any living creature in the same room instantly AC: Weak, not great for summer. Food: The chef can clearly cook.... and cook *very* well. However its a menu that would be served in a (very good) Budapest hotel. This is Matra. We need Matra and some locally sourced ingredients. I think the chef must have came in from a good Budapest hotel, some one just needs to give him a nudge we are now in Matra. Diet: No vegetables on the Sunday hot buffet, carbs and protiens only. Chefs night off? Wine list: just 1 Matra wine in red / rose and white selections. Summary, excellently located with some of tbe best wellness....amazing staff. Food is excellent, just not local style. Wine list is poor. Beds are *VERY HARD* if thats your thing, and rooms do run a tad hot. NB. Review updated and upgraded from 3/5 to 4/5 as staff are that good.

Nice, quiet environment. Rooms are clean and tidy. Foods are above the standard 4* level. Staff is polite and lovely. The wellness area is great. We would be happy, if cats could be accomodated in the hotel not only dogs.

Modern, comfortable, with fantastic amenities: pools, saunas, steam rooms, SALT ROOM!, spa menu, gorgeous rooms, and we had a private sauna and terrace with spectacular views. We are vegans, and the restaurant manager walked us through the buffet to point out the vegan food options. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was incredible. We had the most amazing time at Avar Hotel.
