Az eredeti Bautzeni Mátyás emlékművet 1486-ban Bautzen város hódolata jeléül adományozta, amit a város Ortenburg nevű erődítmény kaputornyán helyeztek el.
The church and the monastery of St. Nicholas, built in the Middle Ages, stood in the Buda Castle, in this place, on today's András Hess Square. The torso on the street front church is decorated with a nine-meter-high relief with the figure of King Matthias in the center.
The original monument to Matthias Bautzen was donated in 1486 as a tribute to the town of Bautzen, which was placed on the gate tower of the fortress called Ortenburg.
