★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La iglesia en la roca es un lugar de culto cristiano católico en la colina Gellért.
Fue construida por Kálmán Lux por orden de los monjes de San Pablo, el primer Ermitaño. 150 años después de la disolución de la orden, quince monjes que regresaron del exilio en Polonia se establecieron dentro de la iglesia durante unos veinte años, hasta que fueron acusados de traición por el régimen comunista, que suspendió sus actividades y la entrada a la iglesia.
Se reabrió en 1989 el mismo día que el Papa bendijo el nuevo altar de granito de Győző Sikot.
En la iglesia hay una copia de la Virgen negra de Częstochowa, una pintura del águila polaca y una pintura que representa a San Maximiliano Kolbe, franciscano
polaco que murió ayudando a los prisioneros en Auschwitz .
En la iglesia también se puede admirar una placa conmemorativa grabada con los nombres de los campos de concentración en los que cientos de miles de personas fueron encarceladas en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, junto con las ciudades y escuelas que albergaban a los refugiados polacos en esos mismos años. En la entrada de la iglesia también hay una estatua de San Esteban.
The church on the rock is a place of Christian Catholic worship on the Gellért Hill.
It was built by Kálmán Lux by order of the monks of San Pablo, the first Hermit. 150 years after the dissolution of the order, fifteen monks who returned from exile in Poland were established within the church for about twenty years, until they were accused of treason by the communist regime, which suspended their activities and entry to church.
It was reopened in 1989 on the same day that the Pope blessed the new granite altar of Győző Sikot.
In the church there is a copy of the black Madonna of Częstochowa, a painting of the Polish eagle and a painting representing Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Franciscan
Polish who died helping the prisoners in Auschwitz.
In the church you can also admire a commemorative plaque engraved with the names of the concentration camps in which hundreds of thousands of people were imprisoned in World War II, along with the cities and schools that housed the Polish refugees in those same years. At the entrance to the church there is also a statue of St. Stephen.
