Although we only had coffee and dessert, but it’s well worth the visit.
The service was great and the waiters treat any diner like VIP.
Will definitely visit next time :)

And now, I solemnly declare that we have the winner - definitely the best steak tartar in my life I tried in Gundel - one of the most beautiful and best restaurants I've ever been ? Other food, ambience and service are also great so you have my sincere recommendations for this wonderful Hungarian restaurant??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Truly historic place in the little City Park (Városliget) of Budapest. Re-opened just recently so we kind of had some expectations but it was rather disappointing. Staff is friendly the interior looks fine. But then they have 2-3 different chairs which gives the place a strange feeling. We went for Saturday dinner, our part of the restaurant back half was only 50% full yet they still have such a close seating that you lose the intimacy and private feeling. Ca. 50cm to the next table is not really acceptable. The food was good, this was the good part and the majority of the 4 star rating is based on this as well as the people where friendly. But completely unorganized, there were plenty of waiters but lack of organisation (table next to us came 30 min later but got the main course earlier) left a sour taste overall.

The food was good.
The service was also good. Maybe too much attention...
The music (piano) was a little bit too noisy

Lovely dishes, tasty coffee, yummy cakes in an elegant atmosphere. Pleasant live music all day long. Open from 9 in the morning. Right next to the Zoo and Heroes square ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are in Budapest and want to eat something really great then you need to visit Grundel. Probably it’s one of the greatest restaurants in Hungary. The service was on point. They are really paying attention to everything. They are also having live music that gives the place an extraordinary feeling.
The food was one of the best that I have ever tried in Hungary. If you are having breakfast you really need to try Eggs Benedict.
Really wonderful place to eat and really recommend it. The prices are also not that high.
