A szobrot Csikász Imre veszprémi szobrászművész készítette 1908-ban a Müncheni Magyar Egylet pályázatára. Egy tévedés miatt nem jutott ki a szobor Münchenbe. 1924-ben a gipszszobor a veszprémi Bakony Múzeumba került, mivel a Csikász család örök időkre ide adományozta. 1994-ben Raffay Béla szobrászművész az eredeti szobrot üreges bronzba öntötte, majd a Laczkó Dezső Múzeum előcsarnokában állították ki. 2001. június 1-jén a képző- és Iparművészeti Lektorátus támogató szakvéleményt adott. A felkért szakértők a Budapest út 11. sz. alatti Kossuth Lajos Általános Iskola előtti zöldterületet alkalmasnak találták a mellszobor elhelyezésére. A köztéri elhelyezés szükségessé tette a mellszobor hátoldalának lefedését, a szobor kiegészítését és a patinázását. A művészi munkát Raffay Béla, a lábazatot Hermanics József műszobrász készítette el. A Kossuth-emlékévben 2002. március 14-én avatták fel a szobrot, Kossuth születésének 200. évfordulóján. The statue was created by Imre Csikász sculptor Veszprém in 1908 for the competition of the Hungarian Society in Munich. By mistake, the statue did not get to Munich. In 1924, the plaster cast into the Bakony Museum in Veszprém, because it was donated here by the Shish family forever. In 1994, the sculptor Béla Raffay cast the original sculpture in hollow bronze, then exhibited it in the lobby of the Dezső Laczkó Museum. On June 1, 2001, the Department of Fine and Applied Arts issued a supporting opinion. The invited experts are located at Budapest út 11. The green area in front of the Kossuth Lajos Elementary School under the Buda Castle was found suitable for busting. The public placement made it necessary to cover the backside of the bust, to supplement the sculpture and to patinate it. The artwork was created by Béla Raffay, the footing was made by the sculptor József Hermanics. The statue was inaugurated on March 14, 2002, on the 200th anniversary of Kossuth's birth.
