Az utóbbi években végre rendberakták a környéket, és vele együtt igényes - bár sajnos nem teljes - műemléki helyreállítás során az Aranyos Mária-kápolna megmaradt romjait is. Igazi turistacsemege egy kellemes, tavaszi, délutáni kirándulás során. For decades, the downtown (including the bishopric area) was a "shame spot" for the area, which remained here from the 1970s and 1980s, with a shattering protective structure over a deteriorating excavation site. In recent years, the area has finally been rebuilt and, along with it, the remaining ruins of the Golden Chapel of the Virgin, though unfortunately not complete, have been restored. A true tourist treat for a pleasant spring, afternoon excursion.
A	András Kövér on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A püspöki kápolnát a 14. század közepén építtette Miklós, pécsi püspök, aki ezt a hét oltárral ellátott gyönyörű, gótikus épületet egyben saját sírhelyéül szánta. Itt temették el aztán az egyetem alapításában élen járó Koppenbachi Vilmost is, erről márványtábla is árulkodik. A kápolna gyönyörű kőfaragványait az oszmán megszállók tették tönkre, igaz a pusztítás nem önmagáért való volt, hanem mert a muzulmán vallásban tiltottak az emberi és állati alakzatok, motívumok a templomokban, így valószínűleg szakrális célokra akarták használni a kápolnát is. Ezek a megrongált szobrok és sírmaradványok jelenleg a Középkori Egyetem épületének helyén kialakított tárlat részeit képezik. A kápolna falmaradványait 1978-as régészeti ásatások során tárta fel Gerő Győző és G. Sándor Mária, ezt követően a falak több, mint 30 éven keresztül egy rozzant védőépület alatt álltak, mígnem 2011-ben végre látogathatóvá nem váltak, és jelenleg is megtekinthetők, természetesen ingyen, hiszen kültéren találhatók. The episcopal chapel was built in the middle of the 14th century by Miklós, Bishop of Pécs, who intended this beautiful, Gothic building with seven altars as his own tomb. Vilmos Koppenbach, who was at the forefront of founding the university, was also buried here, as evidenced by a marble plaque. The beautiful stone carvings of the chapel were destroyed by the Ottoman occupiers, although the destruction was not for its own sake, but because the Muslim religion forbade human and animal figures and motifs in the temples, so they probably wanted to use the chapel for sacred purposes as well. These damaged sculptures and grave remains are currently part of an exhibition on the site of the Medieval University building. The remains of the chapel were excavated during the archeological excavations in 1978 by Győ Gerőző and Mária G. Sándor, after which the walls were under a ruined defensive building for more than 30 years until free of charge as they are located outdoors.
