Önmagában a hely egy árnyékos park rálátással a Gellérthegyre. Ugyanakkor rendezvény szempontjából van benne lehetőség, ahogy az elmúlt időszakban volt rá példa.
The place itself is a shady park with a view of Gellert Hill. At the same time, there is an opportunity for it in terms of an event, as has been the case in the recent past.

Szeretjük a költőt, így nem zavar, hogy küleme a római kort idézi.
We love the poet, so it doesn’t bother him that his appearance evokes Roman times.

A szobor felállítását Reményi Ede hegedűművész kezdeményezte, s nagymértékben hozzájárult anyagilg annak létrehozásához. Izsó Miklós halála miatt volt szükség arra, hogy a munkát Huszár Adolf befejezze. A talpazatot, s a szobrot körülvevő rácsot Ybl Miklós tervezte. A szürke gránit talapzat 535cm, a költő bronz szobra 375cm magas. Szerintem ez a szobor Budapest egyik legjellegzetesebb alkotása, kiindulási hely a városban.
The erection of the sculpture was initiated by the violinist Ede Reményi and greatly contributed to its creation. Due to the death of Miklós Izsó, it was necessary for Adolf Huszár to complete the work. The pedestal and the lattice surrounding the statue were designed by Miklós Ybl. The gray granite pedestal is 535cm high and the bronze statue of the poet is 375cm high. I think this sculpture is one of the most characteristic works of Budapest, a starting point in the city.

Скульпткра відомого угорського поета, чия творчість надихнула угорців на визвольну війну проти австрійського імператора. На жаль, війну тоді програли.
A sculptor of the famous Hungarian poet, whose work inspired the Hungarians to the war of liberation against the Austrian emperor. Unfortunately, they lost the war then.

This is statue dedicated to Sándor Petőfi who wrote a poem called The National Song which is said to have inspired the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. He was one of the young leaders of the revolution and was key in starting the revolution in Pest. You will find lots of places names after Petőfi in Hungary. The National Song: On your feet, Hungary, the homeland calls! The time is here, now or never! Shall we be slaves or free? This is the question, choose your answer! - By the God of the Hungarians We vow, We vow, that we will be slaves No longer! We were slaves up til now, Damned are our ancestors, Who lived and died free, Cannot rest in a slave land. By the God of the Hungarians We vow, We vow, that we will be slaves No longer! Useless villain of a man, Who now, if need be, doesn't dare to die, Who values his pathetic life greater Than the honor of his homeland. By the God of the Hungarians We vow, We vow, that we will be slaves No longer! The sword shines brighter than the chain, Decorates better the arm, And we still wore chains! Return now, our old sword! By the God of the Hungarians We vow, We vow, that we will be slaves No longer! The Magyar name will be great again, Worthy of its old, great honor; Which the centuries smeared on it, We will wash away the shame! By the God of the Hungarians We vow, We vow, that we will be slaves No longer! Where our grave mounds lie, Our grandchildren will kneel, And with blessing prayer, Recite our sainted names. By the God of the Hungarians We vow, We vow, that we will be slaves No longer!

Monument to Sandor Petőfi (1823-1849). He was the national poet of Hungary, one of many men who inspired Hungarian Revolution of 1848-1849. Although it was the very strange revolution because Hungarians fought for the recreation of their national independence from Austria but the same time they denied independence and rights of Croats, Slovaks and Slovenians. Death of Petőfi is the enigma till nowadays. Probably he was killed in action in the Battle of Segesvar between Hungarian revolutionaries and Russian Imperial Army in 1849. Or, according to some sources, he died from tuberculosis being POW. As Hungarians say, "disappeared as Petőfi in the fog". Pest, Budapest, ?? Hungary ??. November 11, 2021.
