★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a beautiful statue, situated on a perfect spot in the City Centre of Pécs, makes memory for a really great man, scientist and businessman from the end of the 19th century in the life of Pécs - it was Miklós Zsolnay, who established the worldwide known Zsolnay Porcelain Manufactory.
This statue was built in 1907, after the citizens, businessmen and companies put together the money necessary for it.
Before 2007 it was renewed and a traffic circle was made around it (it got place in the middle of the renewed square) and it became an elegant lightning as well. Sadly, the lamps died during the time, but no one was able to change them...
If you're driving with a car and are close to this traffic circle, you should avoid this spot around the rush hours, since there are too many passing ways for pedestrians through the entire square, so that cars and busses simply can't pass the traffic circle - it builds traffic jams, instead of enabling a fluent traffic in the area...
