Small, but friendly district museum, very helpful for studying local history, it is free to visit on the first Saturday of each month

This place is a little magic box there with very enthusiastic people (curators) who know interesting facts behind the exhibitions. We saw porcelains from a long closed factory that made very nice products from plates, cups, vases to little sculptures. If you like arts, like things that are a bit different from the ordinary museums with old pictures, that'll be your place! On the 1st floor now there is an exhibition of childrens' toys from a couple of years back.

Interesting to learn of Obuda's history through the ages and how it was once very different to how it appears now with massive socialist housing estates. Descriptions were in Hungarian only but the museum staff kindly lent me an English language guide book. Also a surprisingly interesting temporary exhibit of historic toys and games from East and West.

The Victor Vasarely museum has just (late June 2017) opened after a lengthy reconstraction. The collection is a gem, and the building itself is extraordinary (an old monastery?).

I really enjoyed my time in this museum. Ground floors was about the history of life in Hungary, starting with the roman times. And the upper floor about children's toys. However with the information they gave, they almost never wrote the years things happened. Which really was missing. And the ground floor had absolutely no explanation in English. I would still suggest to visit it while you're in Obuda. Also when I went there the entry was free for the day and they had toys for children to play with on the upper floor, next to the toy exhibit

Cute museum in a cosy little neighborhood of Óbuda. The toy exhibition is cool and sadly only one with an English explanation.
