Ha másért nem, a túra kedvéért érdemes felmászni, a kevéske maradványhoz. There really is very little left of it. A ruin sign leading to the castle starts 100-150 meters from the information board. If nothing else, it’s worth climbing for the sake of the tour, for the little leftovers.

Sajnos így ma már semmi nem érzéklehető az egykori épületekből a fákkal sűrűn benőtt falmaradványok között. A tetőről kilátás sem nyílik. A várdomb lába alatt, a tájékoztató tábla mellett piknik hely asztalokkal. Az Oroszlánkői-barlangért és a felette elterülő vadvirágos rét szép kilátásáért érdemes inkább a várral szembenső domboldalt megmászni. Unfortunately, this way nothing can be felt today among the remnants of walls densely overgrown with trees from the former buildings. There is no view from the roof. Picnic place with tables under the feet of the castle hill, next to the information board. For the Oroszlánkői Cave and the beautiful view of the wildflower meadow above it, it is better to climb the hillside opposite the castle.

Béla által győri püspöké kinevezett Csák Ungrin birtoka lett, aki itt is halt meg 1204-ben. Csák Máténak a rozgonyi csatában történt veresége után, az ismeretlen körülmények között és időben rommá lett vár a király birtokába került, s többé nem épült fel. 1473-ban és 1536-ban még említették, de 1543-ban, Esztergom és Fehérvár elfoglalása után, a török seregek a hozzá tartozó faluval együtt elpusztították. A terület 1629-ben az Eszterházyak tulajdonába került. A vár romjai akkor még álltak, melynek a köveit új házakhoz és a majki kolostor építéhez használták fel. It was still mentioned in 1473 and 1536, but in 1543, after the occupation of Esztergom and Fehérvár, it was destroyed by the Turkish armies together with the village belonging to it. The area became the property of the Eszterházys in 1629. The ruins of the castle were still standing at that time, the stones of which were used for new houses and the construction of the monastery of Majk.

Cozy castle remains, the cone of the castle stands out nicely from its surroundings, the ditch and the embankment stretch markedly, the ever-decaying wall of the castle can be followed for a long time (essentially only the wall core, the wall plane can be seen only in one place).
