Az Ördög-árok korábban a budai oldal szennyvizének jelentős részét is befogadta; a Budapesten keletkező napi 600 ezer köbméter szennyvízből 50 ezer köbméter rajta keresztül ömlött tisztítatlanul a Dunába, aminek a csepeli Központi Szennyvíztisztító Telep megépülése vetett véget.
