Anonymus Étterem - Budapest

I almost didn't bother writing this review. After all, we didn't stay long, but there's a reason for that. Far from a friendly start, the waitress wore her tattoos much better than she wore her smile. I can get over poor first impressions, but her gruff "Anywhere!" was the only word she barked before turning her back on us and disappearing. We found a wobbly table, sat and waited. Surely this might get better. Just focus on the location, we thought. Unfortunately, prepared food sat on the kitchen counter. It waited and waited for waitress pickup, but the waitresses never came. We listened to very bad rap music with far too much f'ing and blinding (yes, I am of an age where lunchtime sweary rap ain't my thing). The waitresses were clearly busy tattooing each other, smoking out front or washing dishes, because not one of them came to our table. I guess the slowly decaying food on the counter took some sort of priority over us. If we had actually received a menu and been gifted the opportunity of ordering something from it, we might have been served cold food and warm beer this week or next. Life is too short. Find somewhere better. That's what we did.

Unbeatable views of the castle from the outdoor terrace, good lemonades. Service was slow, we saw our order on the kitchen desk for 10+ minutes and the kitchen staff getting desperate ringing the service bell. We tried getting the waiter's attention but it didn't work so we got up to the kitchen desk and got the dishes ourselves. The food was cold by then. After we complained the waiters seemed to be going to get warm food more regularly though. When queuing to pay (no chance of getting a waiter's attention at the table) the waiter asked the person behind us to cut in line. I hope they were down a server or two due to temporary illness and the bad service was due to under-staffing but I will not go here again. The castle is still pretty to look at but the eating experience was overall bad and frustrating.

Would not recommend this place. My meal came after 40 minutes, together with side plate of chips for another member in my party. After a further 10 mins went inside to check where the rest of our order was, the stroppy female waitress said they no longer had the food we ordered. She came to our table to take a further food order by which time the side chips had gone cold. I informed her that we would be expecting a discount if we placed a replacement meal, to which she replied did we want her to place an order or not. So rude, spoke to the manager after a further 10 minute wait and left.

This was a bar I thought I’d love because it was in such a good location and the ice coffee was delicious but at one point when my brother had gone to the toilet and left me on my own, one of the waiters felt it was appropriate to come and comment on the view he had down my dress from where he was standing and it made me feel so incredibly uncomfortable. I was considering ordering another drink to stay before that but once the damage was done I pretty much downed my coffee and ran.

At first we didn’t get lemonade that we ordered and than we ordered Caesar salad and we got icy undone chicken, stale salat and disgusting dressing. And we found a hair in it. I mean they serve food but clearly don’t put any effort into it.We were very hungry. I definitely dont recommend visiting this place for food, just and only drinks.

I was expecting it to be a tourist trap, but was pleasantly surprised. Beyond the obvious good views and park surroundings, the food and service were very good and I paid a very reasonable €20 for a full meal (main, salad & 2 soft drinks). It missed the perfect score because of the irrelevant dance music that was playing from the speakers. A place to eat in a peaceful and relaxing environment, with a nice park view and nature around, does not need a dance soundtrack.

The limonade was very tasty and the flatbread with chicken was okay for the price they ask. Toilet was free of charge and clean! Cosy terrace with chill music

Restaurant "Anonymus" in the Vajdahunyad Vara or Hunyad Castle is highly recommended during the visit to that castle. Portions are not very large, but food is very delicious. So, it is the place where you can enjoy gluttony here! Castle itself is a copy of the castle that was built for Janos Hunyadi (1406-1456) in the XV century in Transylvania in Hunedoara in modern Romania. Copy was built in 1896 out of wood, but it was so popular that it was rebuilt out of brick and stone in 1904-1908. Water from the pond had been totally drained. Otvenhatosok tere or City Park.
