Az akadémia befejezése után berlini építészirodákban dolgozott. 1880-ban elnyerte a Schinkel-érmet. Abban az évben magyarosította nevét Alpárra. Itáliai tanulmányútjáról Hauszmann meghívta a budapesti Műegyetemre tanársegédnek a „Díszépítéstan” tanszékre, s itt 1882–1889 között előbb Steindl Imre, majd Hauszmann mellett volt tanársegéd. (Wikipédia) Ignác József Alpár (born Schöckl) (Pest, January 17, 1855 - Zurich, April 27, 1928) is a Hungarian architect and university professor. After graduating from the academy, he worked in architectural firms in Berlin. In 1880 he was awarded the Schinkel Medal. That year he translated his name into Alpár. From his study trip to Italy, Hauszmann invited him to the Budapest University of Technology as an assistant professor in the Department of Ornamental Studies, and here between 1882 and 1889 he was first an assistant professor next to Imre Steindl and then to Hauszmann.
